On 23 and 24 February 2022 the Policy Platform will host an online peer review for the benefit of the Intermunicipal Waste Management Service of Greater Porto (Portugal).
LIPOR is a Municipality Association that manages, recovers, and treats the municipal waste of eight municipalities in the Greater Porto area with the aim of transforming waste into new resources through the implementation of innovative and circular practices.

What will it be about?

The peer review will be moderated by our low-carbon economy and environment and resource efficiency Thematic Expert, Katharina Krell and Astrid Severin.
The host would like to convene with European experts to discuss the challenges of waste collection and financial sustainability, and more specifically it would like to learn about:
  • Efficient collection methods for separate biowaste
  • How to increase the quantity and purity of biowaste
  • Pay as you throw (PAYT) schemes and self-sustainable financing models for biowaste collection and management

This event is on invite only, however, key learnings will be made available afterwards.
