This year Interreg Europe nominated TR3S and I-SPEED projects for the RegioStars Awards 2017.
The objective of the RegioStars Awards is to identify good practices in regional development and highlight original and innovative projects which could be attractive and inspiring to other regions. The TR3S project is a candidate for the 'Smart Specialisation for SME innovation' category. The I-SPEED project competes at the CityStars category on Cities in Digital Transition. Both projects received ERDF co-financing from the INTERREG IVC programme.
This year's RegioStars award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 10, during the 2017 European Week of Regions and Cities.
About the TR3S project
TR3S project dealt with smart specialisation, which means identifying the unique characteristics and assets of each country and region, highlighting each region’s competitive advantages, and rallying regional stakeholders and resources around an excellence-driven vision of their future. It refered to the strengthening regional innovation systems, maximising knowledge flows and spreading the benefits of innovation throughout the entire regional economy. The project was built upon the regional strengths and filled the gaps for the effectiveness of their regional development policies through mutual learning and exchange of experiences.

About the I-SPEED project
The main issues tackled by I-SPEED were the lack of awareness among policy makers about the Information Society potential in order to improve public services and foster growth (towards Lisbon Agenda goals) and the loss of competitiveness of European Tourism Economy. I-SPEED aimed therefore at improving the effectiveness of local/regional Policies related to Information Society and Economic Development. This objective was reached through a wide exchange of experiences at policy level addressed at identifying, analysing and transferring good practices on the efficient use of ICT-based services to foster competitiveness and sustainability of Tourism Economy.
