Re-cap: Chapters 1-4
Join now and get immediately access to all the materials from the first four chapters. We'll bring you up to speed with a quick re-cap:
Chapter 1 introduces the Committee of the Regions, the role of regions in EU decision-making, and walks you through the information, statistics and interactive tools provided by Eurostat.
Chapter 2 gives you insights to the EU budget. Learn how the EU budget works and meet the Director General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Budget in a Facebook live session (streamed in January, but a recording is available).
Chapter 3 is all about the regions. Hosted by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, you can take a tour across the continent and explore the plethora of EU actions in the regions. Find out what is happening in your region and see how you can get involved.
Chapter 4 takes you through the social dimension of EU funding. How does the EU support development of human capital, help the most deprived, provide assistance for job seekers, or contribute to better housing? This chapter by the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion gives you the answers.
In the spotlight: Chapter 5
Chapter 5 opens on Monday 12 February. We are hosting the course the entire week until 16 February with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Urbact to show you how to stimulate the local and regional economy with the tools and support we provide.
On the MOOC platform, you can:
- learn about the funding and support available for regions, urban development, SMEs etc.
- see what happens during an interregional project
- hear how regional actors benefit from working together or leverage EU resources
- explore good practices from all over Europe and find inspiration for your region
- join the online discussions, share your experiences, and meet other course participants
Still ahead: Chapter 6 and the grand conclusion
After discovering and learning about the various sources of EU funding, support and other resources for regions and cities, we will take a look at what the future holds.
The theme of chapter 6 is the future of the EU. In addition to the materials on the course platform, there will be a live debate with high-level EU politicians, who will not only share their views, but also address the questions and comments collected from the MOOC participants.
Join now and be part of the MOOC community! There is still plenty of time to build your knowledge, develop your skills and network with the participants, as the MOOC materials will remain online for one year. Let's MOOC!
