The European Commission will adopt a new Communication on ‘Boosting Growth and Cohesion in EU Border Regions’ in September. To mark the occasion, a launch event will take place on 20-21 September in Brussels.
The aim is to draw attention to the ways in which Europe can reduce the complexity, length and costs of cross-border interaction and promote the pooling of services along internal borders. Boosting and strengthening the border regions benefits the EU as a whole, as it contributes to the creation of growth and jobs across the European Union.
The Communication is based on research and dialogue with stakeholders and authorities of Member States, partner countries and border regions. The launch event will add to this work by sharing good practices and outlining a common roadmap to boost EU Border regions in the future.
The event will also be live web-streamed.
