In the context of the discussion on the future of cohesion policy after 2020, the European Committee of the Regions and a group of European associations of cities and regions launched the #CohesionAlliance in October 2017. The coalition has already grown to unite more than 450 institutional partners and more than 11.000 individual supporters for a strong cohesion policy as a part of the EU's future. The #CohesionAlliance calls for an EU budget after 2020 that makes cohesion policy stronger, more effective, visible and available for every region in the European Union.
On 10 July 2019, the representatives of the #CohesionAlliance partners and supporteres come together for a conference 'Together for a strong Cohesion policy 2021-2027' to take stock of the achievements so far. The aim of the event is to send a strong message to the European Commission, the new Parliament and the Council on the importance of a strong cohesion policy for the future of the EU shaped in a genuine partnership with all relevant partners.
