Since 1 march 2021, we can find in all shops and online retailers the new version of the EU energy labels applied to four product categories: fridges and freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, and television sets (and other external monitors).

The labels incorporate a QR code that will link consumers to a new European-wide database called EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labeling) where they can access the specific characteristics and data of each model.

This label helps reduce consumers energy bills, cut carbon footprint and promote the technological development of more efficient products.

At the same time, various eco-design rules have come into force, specially on reparability and the need for manufactures to keep spare parts available for a number of years after products are no longer on the market.

The European Union is committed to include life cycle approach in its regulations. To know more and which products will be next, click here
