Irish sustainable energy communities, social landlords and others now have a new tool to help them assess the work they need to do upgrade the energy performance of homes in their locality and reduce their carbon footprint.

RetroKit, which was developed by XD Consulting after 3 years of RD&D part-funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, is a toolkit that can be used by communities and housing providers to plan their energy renovation projects. The cloud-based platform uses building energy rating (BER) data, a geographical information system and data analytics to assess the current energy performance of the housing stock, conduct a cost/benefit analysis of different retrofit scenarios and define a renovation roadmap.

RetroKit’s mission is to engage with and empower its clients to reduce the carbon footprint in housing, to alleviate fuel poverty and improve the health and wellbeing of householders.
