Stakeholders of the Lower Austrian innovation system gathered on 20 November 2019 to discuss the current support for companies in digital transformation in the region.

The workshop took place in the recently started INTERREG Europe project “INNO Industry” and aimed at assessing strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities for further improvement.

About 20 participants, policy makers, cluster managers, DIH managers, representatives of the regional chamber of commerce and start-up agencies attended the meeting.

The joint creation of a Lower Austrian “digitalization support landscape” showed a broad variety of support provided by various regional and national players. The main role of clusters is to initiate collaborative projects of companies enabling qualification or innovation in the field of digitalization.

Success factors identified are services specifically adapted to the needs of the cluster members and clear links and interfaces with services of other innovation service providers in the region.

The participants defined opportunities for a further development of digitalisation support in Lower Austria: increasing international visibility, promotion of the diverse economic landscape as testbed for global players, make better use of the vicinity of Vienna.
