Adaptation of Castilla y León Innovation Ecosystems to the Covid-19 Health Emergency Situation

The S3 Platform is interested in collecting information from all stakeholders involved in S3 related activities, about emerging initiatives that respond to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as redeployment/reorganization of activities that foster recovery processes. In this sense, the JRC from the European Commission has published in its July Newsletter the illustrated case of Castilla y León (Spain). This region underlines the role played by university-based networks that were able to manufacture and deliver protective equipment to hospitals and elderly residence, thanks to their fab-labs and collaborations with other regional stakeholders. Thanks to the InnoBridge project (Interreg EUROPE Programme), the FUESCYL Action Plan introduced fab-labs within the Castilla y León university environment as the result of a good practice.

The account also stresses how the Smart specialization projects support and promote the creation and consolidation of collaborative environments as well as knowledge transfer from R&D entities towards the market.
