Lithuanian Innovation Centre, the lead partner, has hosted project partners for the kick-off meeting in Vilnius.

‘There are two ways in which innovation can be initiated. The first one is when an entrepreneur, creator or innovator has an idea and then looks for possibilities to materialise it. The second one is when a public institution needs to solve a particular problem with a solution or product that has not been developed or introduced to the market yet, and therefore asks for innovation. That’s where public procurement programmes for innovation come in handy’, Mantas Vilys, the director of Lithuanian Innovation Centre, said during the opening speech.

He introduced Lithuanian experience in public procurement for innovation and invited other partners to share theirs.

Partners also discussed project activities for each semester, while the lead partner presented the statements of work for each partner. Management, financial reporting issues and communication activities and responsibilities were presented. The activities of the Semester 1 were discussed more detailed in order to clarify all the practical and content issues for the coming months.
Next partners’ meeting will be held in Lamia, Greece, in November.
