Talent4Iberia Programme

About this good practice
Talent4Iberia is a Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for talent attraction to Extremadura offering 10 interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral 36-months fellowships for the mobility and training of postdoctoral researchers of any nationality to develop R&D activities in the field of ENERGY STORAGE, with the purpose to promote the development of their professional careers in an exceptional research environment.
The programme has a period of 5 years and is coordinated by the Regional Government of Extremadura and implemented by 3 recruiting Host Institutions (Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage; University of Extremadura; and Centre for Scientific and Technological Research of Extremadura), and counts with the participation of 21 Associated Partners from 15 different countries (EU and abroad), from academia, research centres and industry dedicated to the energy sector.
Talent4Iberia implements an interdisciplinary and innovative research and training programme, bringing together different scientific fields to provide the Postdoctoral Researchers with relevant knowledge, methods and skills across a wide range of disciplines around the Energy storage ecosystem. This goal will be achieved by a unique combination of direct research training, academic and non-academic secondments, as well as courses and seminars/workshops on scientific and complementary transferable skills coordinated by FUNDECYT-PCTEX.
Resources needed
This programme is co-funded by the European Commission under the MSCA COFUND of the HORIZON EUROPE Framework Program, awarded under the Call HORIZON-MSCA-2022-COFUND-01, and 50% co-funded by the Regional Government of Extremadura.
Evidence of success
The main outcome of the programme is the attraction and training of ten international researchers (a total of 62 candidates from 23 different countries have submitted their applications, demonstrating the programme's global appeal and the attractiveness of Extremadura's energy storage research ecosystem).
Potential for learning or transfer
By working with the Smart Specialisation Strategy, Talent4Iberia improves the capacity of the whole Region of Extremadura: not only the university, companies and other institutions participating in the programme, but also the region receives the benefit of being reinforced as a destination for talented researchers and sees an impulse to its research and expectedly entrepreneurship ability in fields directly linked with the regional capabilities and needs.
The direct benefit is to attract and train 10 international researchers, to promote their transnational mobility, to stimulate their research activity in fields of high added value for the whole region and to establish cross-sectorial links between researchers to enrich R&D outcomes apart from allowing students at UEX and other HI to receive training from these highly experienced international fellows. Indirectly, the region benefits from the synergies arising between the newcomers and the existing ecosystem.
