About this good practice
In 2021, the company launch a production rationalization project to reduce costs and waste, due to inventories of unused primary packaging.
Such wastes are determined by the silk-screened label on the packaging.
If primary information change on the label, the packaging become obsolete, generating a high number of inventories.
The rationalization of the costs, the formats of product, the labels, and the adoption of new sustainable packaging have allowed to reduce the number of formats and closures to cover all the necessary references of the pilot project.
Financial resources are required to extent the best practice to the other production lines for IDI products. Human resources are required to manage the conversion process with the involvement of the stakeholders.
Evidence of success
This is a scalable process innovation that has started an internal rationalization of the management of packaging. The company has decided to use totally recycled hdpe bottles, closures made of at least partially recycled materials (eg 30% recycled lotion pump), labels made of bioplastics.
The first line of cosmetics created as a pilot was the solar line: 3 product references, for about 50 thousand units.
