Dr Kai Böhme is director of Spatial Foresight GmbH.
He specialises in European regional and territorial research and policies, international comparative studies in the fields of regional development policies, spatial planning, and in the territorial impacts of sector policies. He has a truly European background and considerable experience in policy advice at the European and national level as well as in the management of international applied research and consultancy projects.
Kai has 20 years of experience in leading European-wide projects. Among others, he has long-standing experience in working with territorial cooperation incl. macro-regional strategies. Among others, he has conducted several studies for several Interreg Programmes, DG REGIO, ESPON, INTERACT, the European Parliament, Committee of the Regions, European Investment Bank and other international players. He is also frequently hired as speaker and moderator by ESPON, European Investment Bank, Committee of the Regions etc. In terms of education he holds a PhD in Management Science from the University of Nijmegen (Netherlands) and a master in spatial planning from the University of Dortmund (Germany). He is member of the German Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL).
