Free movement of labour is a fundamental pillar of the EU’s internal market. Specific regions and municipalities in the EU are dealing with an above-average influx or outflow of so called ‘EU Mobile Citizens’; EU citizens who, often temporarily, work and live outside their home country.
Working with EU Mobile Citizens gives regions the opportunity to develop economically. At the same time, (a lack of) housing, registration, and social-political integration of Mobile citizens in local communities is often seen as a challenge. This negatively impacts the attractiveness of regional economies as well as the living conditions of temporary workforce citizens. Meanwhile, regions and municipalities in outflux countries are dealing with the consequences of the outflow of citizens.
The project aims to facilitate knowledge exchange of participating local- and regional authorities. The results should lead to a 'toolbox for local and regional authorities towards EU Mobile Citizen policies.
