Covid19 generated many new challenges for the governments and their inhabitants, not only related to the healthy emergency but also at economic, social and environmental level. One of the responses to the Coronavirus crisis by the European Commission was the Hackathon EUvsVirus, which took place on 24-26 April.

The event was an opportunity to connect local authorities, civil society, innovators, partners and buyers across Europe to develop innovative solutions to reply to these challenges.

The best teams were awarded, a total of 117 out of more than 2000 projects. Tamara Espiñeira, Secretary General of the French EURE’s partner, Atlantic Cities, coached almost 20 projects as a Skill Mentor. A list of the best initiatives selected by Tamara is offered below:

GI Covid-19
This is a location-based interactive platform that enables citizens to gain easy access to important up-to-date information on COVID-19 response based on their location
 
COVID-19 Sensitivity Map
An interactive map to help city administrators to efficiently provide health-care facilities to the areas where COVID-19 vulnerable people are residing within the city.

WeBike
This app aims at minimizing exposure to COVID-19 while cycling in order to prevent crowded cycle lanes from becoming hot spots for infection.
 
BUSINESS CONTINUITY
Loocle
It aims to support cities, shop associations and local communities to build and operate their own local digital marketplace. All the things of your city, just one click away. It’s like google, but loocle.

SOCIAL & POLITICAL COHESION
Structures for European Green Redevelopment and E-Democracy
The European Green Deal will lead us to a green Europe, yet it must also redevelop Europe according to not only the economy's, but citizens' needs as well. The app aims to tackle both topics.

uugot. it
For migrants anywhere in the EU, uugot.it increases their safety, security and independence by enabling them to follow, in their own language, timely and verified public broadcasts about COVID-19 through an internet connection.

Community Heroes (finalist in its category)
Community Heroes aims to match needs and skills within communities, and helps heroes - the ones providing these services - get the recognition they deserve.

Proactive Citizens
Its aim is to give a platform for citizens and representatives to exchange. Representatives talk about their projects and ideas and citizens give them their feedback.

EU4You
Inspired by the European Commission, EU4You is a platform that aims to empower citizens to easy access information about EU programs, based on an open data approach
 
ART, CULTURE & TOURISM
 eArtCoop
This project wants to hybride museums spaces and to create coworking space, rented to corporates. It’s an interesting way to spread cultures, to bring diversity and social inclusion and to learn from each other while keeping museum afloat.
 
CODIV
CODIV is a reality gaming app. It allows players to participate into a treasure hunt in the city through their phones. Tourism will be lower for some time but, this tool could be a way to share a city’s history and culture to a wider public thanks to its playfulness and its digital dimension.
 
Guide-Your-Guide
It is a platform that allows museums or cultural heritage sites to give guided tours remotely and virtually. This tool could be useful for schools who cannot travel to sites or museums to still give an immersion to their pupils and to make the lessons more real and captivating.
 
REMOTE WORKING AND EDUCATION
The Village
This mobile app is interesting for parents and local communities for juggling with daily life. The mobile app could also be used for extra-curriculum activities, or mainly used for it. It could help parents do some car-sharing or teach one of their specialties to the neighborhood’s children. It could be a planning tool for families who might struggle with too many group messages.
