The Irish government have identified cloud computing as the future of technology which has the ability to revolutionise the operation of businesses in Ireland and across Europe. However, a significant skills shortage and pipeline for talent exists.

Through the development of the world’s first suite of Masters and Undergraduate Degree programmes in Cloud Computing Dell EMC and the Cork Institute of Technology have combined to design and deliver the course either remotely or on campus. These one year courses address future industry skills requirements and strengthen Ireland’s advancement as an international Cloud Computing Centre of Excellence.

Tim Horgan, Head of Computer Science at the Cork Institute of Technology suggests that “Ireland is benefiting from the Development of the MSc in Cloud Computing – with 177 students having completed the programme having availed of the online and physical classes available via the programme they are getting access to the most up to date technology developed by Dell EMC and Infrastructure and Virtual Laboratories which have cost in excess of €315,000 to develop.”
