The Donostia WeekINN 2016 had a complete program of activities around the innovation strategy that takes place in the city, from different business sectors, educational entities, public bodies, research and technology centers, entrepreneurs and citizenry in general. The objective was to offer a space of visibility, contrast, training, information and learning around this attitude and commitment to innovation in Donostia. In fact, this type of initiative is key to fostering vocations, providing practical information to young people about the current market, generating curiosity, etc.
In collaboration with more than 70 organizations and agents, activities were organized throughout the week to share experiences on innovation.
The main topic was that the cities should be committed to developing, retaining and attracting talent. Therefore, the central theme was the promotion of Talent, as a basis for innovation, with people as a fundamental basis. In 2015, a year with a change of local government with a strong political will to develop the concept of innovation, a clear commitment with the person as the key driver of the innovation model was taken in San Sebastian. The people, the citizens in a wider sense, are in the core of everything that the city is doing. It generated a clear evolution of the operative tools and programmes towards the person as a central element in 2016, thanks to the inputs from the different agents involved in the ecosystem, that were received and analyzed by FSS.
Cities are becoming the true poles of socio-economic development, places where things happen and strategies become reality. The quality of life, companies, universities, leisure, connection with others... occurs only in cities.

The new Connecting Talent Strategy is an attempt to change the old paradigm based on investment and jobs to attract people into a scheme in which people and talent attract capital and employment. And this principle guides the commitment of Donostia, particularly from 2016 onwards, with their innovation driving force, where the ideas come: the citizens and their talent. This unique bet was the main topic for the 2016 WeekINN.
