[NEWS] Greece: 10.000 charging stations in 5 years

Greece is planning to install around 10.000 charging stations within the next 5 years, in order to support drivers of electric vehicles.

Public Power Corporation (DEI) has already installed 301 charging stations in 61 areas in 31 prefectures in Greece during the last 5 months. As it was announced by the president of DEI, the plan is to install around 10.000 charging stations within the next 5 years in order to support drivers of electric vehicles, give them the opportunity to charge their cars during shopping or other activities and reduce range anxiety.

The energy for the charging process will be produced by renewable energy source while until end of the summer the charging process will be free of charge. Additionally, through the application DEIblue, the users can search for the closest available stations in their area, as well as suggest the location where the next charging station should be installed, according to their needs. Additionally, DEI plans to install enough fast charging stations along the road network connecting the city of Athens with Thessaloniki.
