The Paks Transportation Ltd. organized a single-day workshop in the frame of a European project on the 10th of December, 2020 to present investments the Municipality is committed to in the fields of energy and transportation. The international exchange of experience gave an overview of the whole process from planning to execution with a special focus on setting up the e-bus system in Paks. Mr. István Király, passenger transport manager of Paks Transportation Ltd. explained the challenge of creating a new route network from scratch. As he pointed out, public transportation need to be made more popular to make the city a livable place and e-buses provide the best opportunity to achieve this. Mr. Tamás Egri, engineer at Protheus Holding Plc. further underlined the importance of enhancing the effectiveness RES capacities by investment into energy.

The e-taxi system of the Municipality was especially interesting for the participants gathering from Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Greece and Romania, and they have also had the pleasure to learn more about smart grids. Even though there are significantly more electric cars on the roads of Vorarlberg, electricity networks still needs to be upgraded to provide for the increasing electricity demand these vehicles create. The Protheus-project is a very important Good Practice in that regard.

Policy instruments contributing to the financial and professional background of transportation investments were also discussed during the meeting along with the quite new topic of the legal aspects of e-mobility presented by dr. György Molnár, Director for Passenger Transportation and Technical Development at the Volánbusz Association. The conference was organized in the framework of the E-MOB Interreg Europe project co-financed by the European Union and Hungary.
