Context:
The I International Conference on Sustainable Construction and Demolition (SCD 2021) was held on 17 and 18 November 2021, at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain) in a hybrid format. The CONDEREFF project infoday took place on this occasion and was attended by numerous architects, engineers and stakeholders.
The CONDEREFF project was named during the Conference but had a special focus on 18 November. The conference was a great opportunity to introduce the project, to present the activities carried out during phase 1, the progress achieved so far and the new actions to be implemented in phase 2, including the action plan. At this event, Elisa Peñalvo provided a brief introduction to the project, and afterwards Jaime Llinares led the round table discussion on current issues related to the management of construction and demolition waste. This round table was attended virtually by Jose Maria Bravo, Councillor of Environment and participant of the meetings held during phase 1 and Luis Miguel Alonso Carbó, manager of the VILOR group and key stakeholder involved in the UPV action plan to be implemented during phase 2, and physically attended by Jaime Llinares Millán, from the Building Technology Research Centre and Elisa Peñalvo-López, from the Institute of Energy Engineering.
It was a very fruitful day which highlighted the need for an efficient management of construction and demolition waste in which both public administration and private companies are key actors.

Objectives:
The main objectives of this event were:

  • To disseminate the project, the main objectives and the progress made so far.
  • Share the results obtained from the project and present the next steps that will be carried out during phase 2.
  • Raise public awareness of the importance of sustainable construction in order to achieve more efficient demolition, with a higher percentage of recycled waste.
  • Establish new contacts and get more stakeholders to participate in the project and increase their knowledge on efficient construction and demolition waste management.
