More than 40 participants attended the Portuguese edition of the 1st Regional Stakeholders Workshop, in Ágora room of NOVA School of Science and Technology (Almada, Portugal). It was co-organized by PP2 - Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and by LP1 - NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT-NOVA).

With the title 'How to turn coastal activities - of tourism and recreation - zero-waste?', the invited stakeholders could share their opinions regarding the marine litter with origin in these activities. 

Margarida Nunes, from PP2 - APA, said that: «CAPonLITTER project will be very important to assess the needs and opinions of the Portuguese stakeholders regarding the coastal activities of tourism and recreation

The main challenges identified were the individual behaviours and need for sensibilization and education regarding the marine litter problem. Stakeholders have identified some best practices that addressed these challenges.

José Carlos Ferreira, the CAPonLITTER Project Coordinator (LP1 - FCT-NOVA), said: «The Participatory Process of CAPonLITTER project will be a powerful tool on the collection of stakeholders inputs and needs».

This was the first of several events that will take place in Portugal, during the CAPonLITTER project. The other partners of the consortium will also organize this workshop with their regional stakeholders.
