The 2020 edition of the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) Award from the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has been launched.

Each year, the EER label is awarded to three EU territories with an outstanding, future-oriented strategy to promote entrepreneurship and support small and medium-sized enterprises in their territories. All EU regions, cities or any other local or regional institution with the political competence to implement an entrepreneurial vision are invited to apply, irrespective of their size or wealth.

The criteria for evaluating the applications are:

  • Political vision and commitment
  • Multi-level governance, partnership and cooperation
  • Delivery, i.e. concrete actions and optimal use of European Structural and Investment Funds and other public funding
  • Communication

The website of the CoR provides examples of successful regions from the past years.

The deadline for the submission of applications is 27 March 2019.
