Action 1: Development of Village Community Shop in Schleberoda

Relevance to the project

In the course of the SARURE project a project application for the establishment of a village community shop in Schleberoda.

 The funding was provided for the implementation of a market analysis with feasibility study to further develop the concept for the village community shop. In a second stage further funding could be obtained for the building the infrastructure of the village shop.

Nature of Action

The aim of this action is to build a village community shop in Schleberoda. The shop will be located in a building owned by the municipality which requires some investments. A feasibility study has been implemented from June 2019 until April 2020.

The shop will be based on 4 pillars:

  • Order Shop
  • Coffee Shop
  • Event Location
  • Cultural events

Stakeholders

  • The Municipality of Schleberoda owns the building for the community shop is located.
  • The Ministry provides the funding programme.
  • The Municipal District Burgenlandkreis has facilitated the discussion for the development of the Village Community Shop.

Timeframe

The call for the new funding programme for the village community shops will be published in Autumn 2020. A project application for the construction of the shops will be developed until the End of 2020. With the funding decision in the first quarter 2021 the construction of the village shop should start in Spring 2021 with planned opening in Summer 2021.

Costs and Funding Sources

The costs for the equipment of the shop is estimated to approximately 30.000€. Furthermore annual costs of 37.500€ are estimated.

 As the building is owned by the municipality, renovation works will be covered by the city. The city pays the costs of 6000€. At the moment there is an estimation of about 150.000€ costs.

It is planned to submit an application to receive funding from the Ministry for Environment, Agriculture and Energy.

Action 2: Promotion of digitalization of rural retail in Burgenlandkreis

Relevance to the project

The Burgenlandkreis has promoted the development of the INKA+ platform, which is a web-based interactive map and networking platform for the municipal district. In Burgenlandkreis many young people are leaving. The region is also lagging behind in terms of digitalization.

INKA+ is a combination of route guidance system, company platform, social network, industry network, regional online newspaper and corporate blog.

Nature of Action

The objective to establish e-commerce functionality to allow the small businesses to sell their products online.

Stakeholders

  • Members of the direct marketers association will be first target group as users of online market place
  • Transmedial is software developer of the INKA+
  • Burgenlandkreis has supported the development of INKA+

Timeframe

Discussion for the establishment of online shop for small retailers will take place in 2nd half 2020. The online shop should be developed and go live in 1st half 2021. 

Costs and funding Sources

The Atalanda platform requires a start fee of 5000 Euro for one region. Furthermore each retailer who wants to sell its product on the platform pays 30 Euro per months and 8% fee from the sales.

LEADER funding, funding for coal regions in transformation – structural change funding and special Corona support funds.

Action 3: Networking and Exchange of Experiences in the “Village to Village” initiative

Relevance to the project

In the Greek and Spanish partner regions we have seen regional workshops to promote the upscaling of successful good practices to other locations.

Begin 2020 the Burgenlandkreis has obtained a funding in the framework of the programme – “Professionals support voluntary worker”.

Nature of Action

The objective of the initiative “Village to Village" is the creation of a networking platform to exchange experiences and knowledge between villages in rural areas in the Burgenlandkreis.

The first meeting was organised in December 2020 with the focus on the activities of Schleberoda. Two good practices will be presented: 1st the village community shop and 2nd the innovative mobility concept. Each year two workshops will be organised.

Stakeholders

Mayors from the villages are invited to exchange their experiences and build future activities in a mutual learning process.

Associations, Networks and Initiatives in rural areas, representatives from civic society and voluntary workers in several initiatives from rural areas.

Burgenlandkreis employs 2 persons that coordinate the work of the project “Professionals support voluntary work”.

Timeframe

The activities are implemented from December 2020 until December 2022. The first Meeting was organised in December 2020. 

Costs and Funding Sources

The total costs for three years are 400.000€. Where the largest share is staff costs for 2 employees in the administration of Burgenlandkreis. Funding for comes from the Federal Ministry for Nutrition and Agriculture in the framework.
