About the project
The external spaces are often an underestimated part of the school’s design while they should be considered an important resource with a lot of potential for innovation.
Lately, and especially after the recent Covid-19 epidemic, researchers have been exploring possibilities and opportunities around outdoor areas and the impact of greening on the mental state of the students.
Which role have the school courtyards in the sustainable development of educational architecture? How can we redevelop these outdoor spaces to create healthy and productive environments?
This project explores the potential of the redevelopment of outdoor school spaces to promote a climate-neutral, healthy and active environment with the aim of creating design guidelines for policymakers and practitioners to build and promote truly integrated sustainable school environments.

Partners we are looking for
We are looking for partners that directly manage the thematic policy instrument, then who can intervene on sectorial policies through plans on urban infrastructure and schools.
We would prefer the partner to be a local or regional public authority.
