About this good practice
Resources needed
87 million lei (around 20 million Euro) from which 70 million lei (around 75%) have been European funds through ROP (ERDF)
Evidence of success
After the implementation of this project the capacity of public transport doubled and even tripled in a very short time. The project also contributes to traffic congestion & pollution reduction, the tram being one of the most ecological public transport
Another evidence of success is the fact that during current period of programming (2014-2020) 2 similar projects have been submitted for ERDF funds and are approved for getting financed.
Potential for learning or transfer
The project has a good transferability and learning potential.
The Lead partner of InnovaSUMP project have evaluated – during the Staff exchange – the possibility to transfer this good practice in Nicosia, Cyprus, creating a new tram line in the city, to be promoted for future EFSI co-funding in order to reduce congestion in the area and achieve environmental benefits.
